Learn sign language

If you would like to learn the basics of communicating with someone who is Deaf, come along to one of our South African Sign Language classes on Friday 13, 20 and 27 September from 12h30-13h30.

Classes will be held at the SASL Department at Wits Main Campus, on the 2nd floor of Senate House (Room number to be confirmed).

Contrary to what you might think, sign language is not universal; each country has it’s own unique version. In South Africa, sign language is recognised as one of the official languages in the country, equal in status to the other 11 languages.
